The best material is needed to build an instrument that is pleasing to the ear, the eyes and the heart.
Slow growing wood that has been cut and dried properly is a basic requirement. Therefore, we personally choose and purchase the material each year from Germany, the United States, England and India.
Michael has learned this from the two masters he studied with, Bozo Padunavac in San Diego in 1982, where he learned to build steel-string guitars and mandolins, and then with Georg Bolin between 1984-1986, where he learned to build classical guitars.
In 1986 Michael received his Journeyman’s Certificate as a qualified builder and in 1996 he got his Master’s Certificate in guitar craftmanship. Sanden guitars have been a member of the "Guild of American Luthiers" since 1983 and have participated in several conventions over the years.
Since 2006, Sanden Guitars is situated in Tommarp. A small village in the south of Sweden.
Michaels wife Kari is now working full time in the workshop. She does a lot of sanding, fretting and finishing work. Together we do our absolute best to take care of you as a customer so that you are going to feel safe with your Sanden guitar. During 2008 we will start up the building of a new bigger workshop. You will be able to follow the building process on our blogg.
